A Heart That Waits, A Faith That Wins
In 2 Samuel 1–3, we witness a tender, patient side of David that’s often overlooked. Rather than immediately seizing power after Saul’s death, David mourns deeply and waits on God’s timing. Even as others war over the throne, David chooses peace, prayer, and steady trust.
In Luke 18:1–17, Jesus tells of a persistent widow who wouldn’t give up, and of a publican who found grace through humility. He then embraces the little children, teaching that childlike faith is the key to entering God’s kingdom. These themes—patience, humility, and trust—run like a golden thread through both passages.
David’s restraint and Jesus’ lessons remind us that spiritual greatness is not in striving for power or recognition, but in waiting with confidence, praying with persistence, and trusting with childlike simplicity. God exalts the humble in due time.

- How do I respond when others succeed—especially those who once hurt me?

A Prayer for Today
Lord, help me to walk with the patience of David, the humility of the publican, and the trust of a child. Teach me to wait on You without striving, to pray without giving up, and to trust Your timing over my own. May I honor others, even when it’s difficult, and seek Your approval above all else. Lift me up in Your time, and keep my heart always close to Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
