God Speaks Clearly—Will You Listen?

Morning: 1 Kings 14–15
Evening: John 1:1–28

The fall of kings continues in 1 Kings 14–15, where we see both Jeroboam and Rehoboam turn from the Lord, bringing corruption and calamity upon Israel and Judah. God sent messages through prophets, warning them to repent. But rather than heed His voice, they persisted in sin, leading to moral and national decline.

In contrast, John 1:1–28 introduces us to the eternal Word made flesh—Jesus Christ, the true Light who came to speak life, truth, and grace into a dark world. John the Baptist boldly prepares the way for the Messiah, calling people to repentance and pointing away from himself to Christ: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

These two passages form a vivid contrast: kings who reject God’s word versus a prophet who faithfully prepares hearts for it. One brings death; the other, eternal life. The lesson is simple yet deep—God still speaks. The question is: are we listening?

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, You are still speaking through Your Word and Spirit. Help me to listen, to humble myself, and to obey. Forgive me for the times I’ve ignored Your voice. Like John the Baptist, may I live to point others to Jesus, the Lamb of God. Let Your truth illuminate my heart and lead me in righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
