He Speaks in the Quiet After the Storm

Morning: 1 Kings 12–13
Evening: Luke 24:36–53

The kingdom that once flourished under David and Solomon splintered in a moment of pride. In 1 Kings 12, Rehoboam ignored wise counsel and chose harshness over humility. The result? Division. Ten tribes rebelled. In chapter 13, a young prophet hears from God but later disobeys the very word he received, misled by another claiming divine authority. His tragic end reminds us that obedience must be to God’s voice above all.

Meanwhile, in Luke 24:36–53, Jesus appears to His disciples after the resurrection—not to rebuke, but to restore. He speaks peace, proves His resurrection, opens their understanding of the Scriptures, and blesses them as He ascends. Where the kings of Israel failed their people, Jesus leads with peace, clarity, and divine power.

We live in a world full of voices—opinions, pressures, and distractions—but the voice of the risen Christ still brings peace, direction, and blessing. Like the disciples, we need ears to hear and hearts to obey.

A Prayer for Today

Lord, You are the voice of truth in a world full of noise. Help me to humble myself, listen carefully, and obey Your Word above all. Teach me to discern what is truly from You and to walk in the peace and joy that comes from knowing You. Open my understanding and give me strength to wait on Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
