Remembering God’s Faithfulness
Morning: Joshua 4-6
Evening: Luke 2:1-24
As the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, God commanded them to take twelve stones from the riverbed to build a memorial (Joshua 4:6-7). These stones were to serve as a reminder to future generations of how God had miraculously led them into their inheritance. In Joshua 6, we see another miraculous victory—Jericho’s walls fell, not by human effort, but by obedience to God’s unusual instructions.
Similarly, in Luke 2, the birth of Jesus is a fulfillment of God’s promise to bring salvation to His people. Mary and Joseph faithfully followed God’s leading, bringing Jesus to the temple to dedicate Him according to the law (Luke 2:22-24). Just as the Israelites were to remember God’s power in delivering them, we are called to remember and celebrate the faithfulness of God in sending His Son for our redemption.
In every season of life, whether facing battles like Jericho or stepping into new beginnings like Israel, we must hold on to the truth that God is with us. He calls us to remember His faithfulness, trust His guidance, and walk in obedience—knowing that He is always working for His glory and our good.
