The Light of Restoration
Morning: Leviticus 24-25
Evening: Mark 1:23-45
Leviticus 24-25 highlights two key themes: the perpetual light of the lampstand in the tabernacle and the laws of the Sabbath year and Jubilee. The lampstand was to burn continually before the Lord, symbolizing His presence and the light of His truth among His people. The Year of Jubilee, occurring every 50 years, was a time of restoration—debts were forgiven, slaves were freed, and land was returned to its original owners. It was a powerful picture of God’s mercy and redemption.
In Mark 1:23-45, we see Jesus embodying this restoration. He heals the sick, casts out demons, and cleanses a leper—all signs of His authority to restore and make whole. When the leper came to Him, saying, “If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean” (Mark 1:40), Jesus responded with compassion and healed him. Just as the Year of Jubilee restored what was lost, Jesus came to restore what sin had broken.
These passages remind us that God is a God of light and restoration. His presence illuminates our path, and His mercy sets us free. No matter what burdens we carry—whether sin, sickness, or past failures—Jesus is willing to cleanse, heal, and restore us.
