The Power of God’s Word to Transform
Morning: 1 Kings 16–18
Evening: John 1:29–51
In 1 Kings 16–18, we witness the rise of Ahab and Jezebel’s wicked reign in Israel, a time marked by idol worship and defiance of God. Yet amid the darkness, the prophet Elijah stands boldly to proclaim God’s truth, confronting false prophets and calling Israel back to the one true God. The dramatic showdown on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18) powerfully demonstrates that God alone is Lord.
In the evening passage, John 1:29–51, John the Baptist introduces Jesus as “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Jesus begins to call His first disciples, who respond to His word with faith and leave everything behind. The Word made flesh continues to change lives, revealing the true source of power and salvation.
Both passages remind us that God’s Word is not powerless; it pierces hearts, convicts sin, and calls for a response. Even in the darkest times, God is at work—calling us to choose Him and walk in His ways.

A Prayer for Today
Lord God, You are the one true God, powerful and faithful. Help me to hear Your Word clearly and respond with faith like Elijah and the first disciples. Cleanse me of anything that competes for my heart, and draw me closer to Jesus, the Lamb who takes away my sin. Give me courage to follow where You lead and to share Your truth boldly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
