Walking in God’s Presence Every Day
Morning: 1 Kings 19–20
Evening: John 2:1–25
In 1 Kings 19–20, Elijah’s journey reveals the ups and downs of walking with God. After the powerful victory on Mount Carmel, Elijah faces fear and despair, fleeing to the wilderness. But God meets him not in the dramatic earthquake or fire, but in a still small voice (1 Kings 19:11-12). This quiet, intimate presence renews Elijah’s strength and mission. Meanwhile, King Ahab faces battles that remind us of God’s control over earthly powers.
In the evening passage, John 2:1–25, Jesus performs His first miracle at a wedding, turning water into wine. This act reveals God’s abundant provision and the start of Jesus’ public ministry. Jesus also clears the temple, showing His zeal for true worship and purity in God’s house.
These chapters encourage us to seek God’s presence deeply—not just in the spectacular but in the quiet moments. Jesus’ first miracle reminds us that God cares about the details of our lives and desires to fill us with His joy and purpose.
